Jim Dale began his career as a stand-up comic, starting out in the Army
and performing in camp shows.
He is a good all rounder - not only does he act, he also sings, is a comic
and writes and composes.
Was in many of the "Carry On" films. He always performed his own stunts.
Awards:
Nominated in 1975 as Best Actor (Dramatic) for "Scapino;"
Won Broadway's 1980 Tony Award as Best Actor - Musicals - for playing 'Phineas T, Barnum' in "Barnum."
Was nominated for a Tony in 1985 for "Joe Egg" and in 1997 for "Candide".
He was awarded the M.B.E. in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
He received a Grammy nomination for his audio book performance of Harry Potter and the Goblet
of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Holds the Guinness World Record for the most distinct characters voiced in an audio-book
(134) for "Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix"!!
